In July, 2006 a group of Chicago's top comedy veterans came together for a meeting...at an Einstein Bagels. They had performed sketch and improv comedy at various venues for the last decade, but their common link was ComedySportz of Chicago, where they bonded as a group with one common goal: laughter. They knew how to entertain a live audience, but they were looking for something that would last a little longer. So they decided to move into video. And seven8nine Productions was born.
Seven8nine was the brainchild of Robyn Norris, an actor who decided she wanted to take her favorite people and put them to work - In a creative and fun way. The group's philosophy hinges on 'Yes And'. Everyone is open to ideas and everyone shares in the work. From editing, shooting, makeup, writing, acting, web design, photography...the list goes on and on. And everyone takes part.
Seven8nine's players are Robyn Norris, Sam Super, Rance Rizzutto, Deanna Moffitt, Shad Kunkle, Joey Bland, Hans Holsen, Tara DeFrancisco, and Julie B. Nichols and Steph McCullough. Their wealth of experience includes ComedySportz, iO, Second City, the Beatbox, Dave & Co, The Annoyance and many other independent projects, commercials, and films.
Their goal: to create lasting comedy videos with universal appeal - videos that encapsulate several genres and styles...much like an improv show.
